Financial Literacy
Wonderfully Me is dedicated to educating, encouraging, and empowering our girls in each session. This month, Kim Bethea, a volunteer and the Program Director of the Iota Tau Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, led an interactive financial literacy session. Providing this knowledge is vital for their present and future success.
Our Wonder Girls are equipped with financial literacy tools through discussions and activities, helping them make smart money decisions, avoid debt, and potentially become entrepreneurs. Financial independence enables them to support their dreams and goals without depending on others.
Furthermore, as our girls grow into women who meet their financial objectives, they contribute to narrowing the gender wealth gap evident in the disparity of pay with men.
The girls practiced writing checks, budgeting, cashing checks at the WME National Bank, and using their cash to simulate real-life experiences. They visited various stations to allocate their budget according to the 50% Needs, 30% Wants, and 20% Savings rule. The use of play money added a fun element to the learning experience.
These Wonder Girls are on the right path to managing their finances now and in the future.

Movie Night
Wonderfully Me organized an engaging bonding event for our Wonder Girls, their families, and our devoted volunteers. The evening was filled with delicious food, entertainment, and the viewing of "Inside Out 2". The festivities began with delectable snacks such as snow cones and chips. A dynamic pre-show activity had everyone mingling and laughing. Dinner featured a spread of salad, pizza, fruit, and cupcakes, all savored before the film started. Clutching popcorn and beverages, the Wonder Girls formed new friendships as they experienced a spectrum of emotions - laughter, sadness, joy, and even anger - mirroring the movie's theme.
Healthy Relationships
The Crime Victims Center of Chester County's interactive session on Healthy Relationships aimed to help participants understand the different types of relationships they have and their impact on their lives and communities. The session identified signs of unhealthy relationships and offered practical tips to overcome or avoid them. To promote positive thinking, participants decorated their own affirmation chalkboards to be used as daily reminders of encouragement and gratitude.
September 2024
Let's Get to Know Each Other. Our WonderGirls embarked on a new program year on September 21, with a session focused on building connections, evaluating self-perceptions, and providing an emotional health check-in. This safe space allowed for open discussions about the challenges of returning to school, including concerns about safety in light of recent school shootings. The girls departed with valuable tools and resources to navigate these challenges. It was fun watching the groups see who could unscramble our tag line: Embrace who you are, Love who you are and Succeed where you are.
